Agreement On $4bn Detroit River Bridge

What has been described as the last impediment to a new P3 bridge between Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, has been removed after three separate governments came to an agreement on how to pay for a contentious piece of supporting infrastructure.

The United States, Canada and Michigan agreed in February that the customs plaza on the U.S. side of the new toll bridge would be rolled into the P3. That was the last outstanding issue of the four pieces of the Cdn $3.5-billion to Cdn $4-billion project.  With that settled, there could be an RFQ this year and land purchases and planning can start now, a Canadian official said.
