Argentina’s launch of a US$6-billion P3 program to upgrade 7,000 km of its decaying roads was successful as it lured ten consortia, comprised of 26 companies, to its first tender. That tender was for “Rutas del Sur”, a package of toll roads and local roads, the latter to be upgraded to a new standard of “Safe Road” highway. Rutas del Sur extends 2,559 km, mostly in Buenos Aires province, but also reaching out to Córdoba and Santa Fé, by the Andes.
