Atlantia Bids For Abertis

Italian Atlantia, SpA , owner of half of the nation’s tollroad network, looks to become a Goliath of international toll road operators with a recent offer of Euro 16.3 billion (US$18 billion) in cash or shares for its Spanish rival Abertis Infraestructuras, S.A. A successful takeover would create a toll road network with a combined 14,095 km in Europe and the Americas. Atlantia will need to make a formal presentation to Spain’s stock market, expected in mid-June, to trigger the takeover mechanism.
