Brazil’s state of Bahia hopes to form a 30-year Reais 3.6-billion (US$1.6 billion) public-private partnership to complete a partially built metro line and build the remaining 41.2 km of new metro infrastructure for its capital city of Salvador.
The new metro is to be operating prior to the Olympic Games that will be held in Brazil in 2018. The winning consortium will also provide rolling stock and operate and maintain the metro. The PPP concessionaire will replace the publicly owned metro company, Companhia de Transportes de Salvador.
