Canada: Ottawa Shortlists For LRT Extensions

The city of Ottawa has shortlisted three groups for each of its two LRT extension projects after the federal government committed up to Cdn $1.1 billion in June. The province of Ontario had already promised a like amount. Ottawa is extending the Confederation Line to the east and west with a DBF contract, and the Trillium Line south with a DBFM contract.

The Confederation Line is a Cdn $1.7-billion P3 that the Rideau Transit Group (ACS Infrastructure, SNC-Lavalin and EllisDon) is expected to open next year. The Trillium Line is an existing city diesel service that has run on railway tracks for years.
