On February 22, the City of Chicago received 16 responses to its Request for Qualifications for a 40-year lease-operate-maintain-improve contract for Midway Airport. The procurement is being done under the federal Airport Privatization Pilot Program administered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The bidding process is on a fast track, but public involvement and transparency assurances by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel set a high bar for success.
