Colombia Launches Road P3s

After much anticipation, and following an unusual method of selecting bidders by lottery, Colombia has invited eligible bidders to vie for the first components of its ambitious PPP road program valued at some US$26 billion. National state agency ANI has kicked off the program with seven stretches of road that will require US$5.7 billion of investment. The roads total 1,200-km of existing one-lane mountain highways that will be upgraded to two lanes each way. Bidders have five months to submit offers.
