The consortium building the Confederation Line, a Cdn $1.8-billion LRT P3 in the city of Ottawa, is likely to miss the May 24, 2018 handover date, the city says. Construction began in 2013.
Rideau Transit Group (RTG), headed by ACS Infrastructure with SNC-Lavalin and EllisDon, was supposed to tell the city in November if it would meet the Revenue Service Availability date. The group said yes, but also said there might be a need for an extension. The city is looking for a firm date by Feb. 6. The cause of the delay has not been precisely identified, but a sinkhole opened over an underground section of the LRT in 2016, flooding 300 meters of tunnel.
