Spanish company Grupo ACS’s entry into a European bidding war for Abertis Infraestructuras, S.A., the Spanish operator of more than 8,600 km of highways, came through Hochtief, ACS’s German contractor subsidiary. Hochtief lodged a Euro 17.1-billion (US$20 billion) bid, topping a rival Euro 16.3-billion (US$19.1 billion) offer from Italy’s Atlantia last May.
