Flagship Project In Chile For End Of Bachelet’s Term

Chile recently received bids from five teams from around the world for the US$800-million, 5.2-km southern stretch (AVO II) of the Americo Vespucio Oriente (AVO) tunnel. The DBFOM project will complete the ring road around Santiago as President Michel Bachelet looks to end her four-year presidential term with a flagship project. Her term, ending in November, has been dragged down by a sharp fall of business activity in 2016 and the first quarter of 2017.
If recovery doesn’t happen “Bachelet could end her mandate with a slumping economy,” Chile´s leading business paper Diario Financiero wrote.
