Gordie Howe Bridge RFP Hung Up

The three groups shortlisted for the Gordie Howe Bridge P3 last January will have to sit on their hands indefinitely until the politics on both sides of the bor- der are sorted out. So says a Canadian advisor, who adds that plans to issue an RFP this month and close the availability payment financing next March have been deferred by the Liberal government that took office last fall after 15 years of Tory rule. Uncovered risks and bureaucratic drift are at work, he says. But there are larger concerns in Ottawa that a win by Donald Trump could doom NAFTA, pulling down the Canadian economy and bridge plans with it.
