The size and complexity of the I-4 Ultimate express lanes project in metro Orlando is likely to result in price proposals next month that are higher than the $2.1-billion estimate used by Florida DOT to gain legislative approval.
So say participants in the complex bidding process for what is one of the most sought-after transportation projects in the U.S. Four teams were shortlisted last May to submit both technical and price proposals for reconstruction of 21 miles of I-4 and adding four tolled express lanes under traffic and on a tight schedule.
