Insurers Want To Invest In Canadian Muni P3s

The group representing Canada’s life and health insurers is pushing to expand the P3 market into smaller municipal projects including water, roads and buildings. The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association’s (CLHIA) push is aimed at reducing barriers that make it hard for smaller jurisdictions to undertake P3s, said Stephen Frank, Vice-President Policy Development and Health. The insurers have already met with provincial infrastructure agencies and governments. Increasing opportunities at the bottom end of the market resonated with all the officials CLHIA talked to, he said.
