The Knik Arm Bridge and Toll Authority (KABATA) board of directors is expected to cancel its DBFOM availability payment procurement at its Feb. 18 board meeting, opening the way for a new design-build procurement of the $800-million toll bridge from Anchorage to Port MacKenzie.
Citing lower public borrowing costs, Gov. Sean Parnell withdrew his support for the P3 approach a few months ago. He included $55 million to complete the bridge procurement in his fy 2015 budget and set aside a total of $300 million in budget authority for a public finance approach.
