Maryland Toll Politics

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s “stunningly high approval ratings” among Maryland voters is partly due to toll reductions, say political analysts.  “Under his own authority, without the need for General Assembly approval, Hogan reduced a number of fees, most notably road and bridge tolls. Those actions were highly visible and popular returns to voters even as they undercut the stability of Maryland’s transportation funding.”
