Niteroi Bridge Hits A Rattled Market

A long-awaited tender for Brazil’s Ponte Rio Niteroi Bridge in Rio de Janeiro hit the markets in mid-February as the nation’s top construction firms are out of play, prohibited from bidding during a federal investigation into their role in the Petrobras corruption scandal.

Brazil’s federal transport regulator ANTT set March 16 as the bid date for the 30-year re-concession of the iconic 13.2-km box-girder bridge over Guanabara Bay. A winning bidder will be picked March 18 and a concession decree issued May 22.
