An Odebrecht TransPort (OTP)-led consortium won a 30-year contract in Brazil tendered by Parana State’s highway department to double the width of and operate an existing two-lane, 220-km state highway, PR 323. The bid by the consortium Consorcio Ruta 323 was uncontested and used the Reais 4.20 (US$1.84) toll charge for a 120-km trip set by the Paraná Highway Authority in its proposal. It allows an internal rate of return of 8.1%. When traffic and revenue reach a certain level, the additional revenues will be shared with Paraná state.
