Peru is launching a 30-year, US$400-million project to complete a system of tunnels that will bring water from the Andes Mountains to the southern districts of Lima. ProInversión, the state agency promoting private investment, will begin public consultation in April on “Proyecto Obras de Cabecera y Conducción para Abastecimeinto de Agua Potable para Lima.” The city of Lima, set in the foothills of the Andes, suffers prolonged draughts as Amazon rainfall clouds get caught in the Andean peaks.
