Canada’s federal government has committed another Cdn $2.5 billion to P3 LRT projects through the Public Transit Fund announced in the spring budget.

Calgary has upgraded a proposed Green Line bus transitway to an LRT after the federal announcement that it will get Cdn $1.5 billion. Ottawa, which is currently building a P3 LRT, has been promised Cdn $1 billion for its second-stage project. In both cases, the federal money will cover about a third of the cost, leaving the cities and the provinces (Alberta for Calgary and Ontario for Ottawa) to find a third each.
