A veteran developer of AFP projects in Ontario agrees that the data doesn’t exist on either the private or public side of the ledger to prove the risk transfer benefits of a full DBFOM over traditional delivery.
IO has begun collecting data on public comparators and at least one insurance company will soon have its own risk valuations developed by a consultant. But “it will probably take you five to 10 years of study to get to a critical mass and find patterns that are real,” says the developer.
