Edmonton, Alberta, has issued an RFP for a Cdn $1.6-billion (capital cost) LRT line that takes the private sector into new territory in the city. The 13-km line will run from the city center to Mill Woods in the southeast, under a 30-year (after construction) DBFOM contract that includes supplying the train vehicles. The line will complement, but be separate from, two public sector LRTs.
The route includes several bridges, a tunnel, several elevated sections, 11 at-grade and one underground station, and a maintenance facility. Financial close is expected January 2015.
