A P3 plan for a monorail system to link Sâo Paulo, the capital city of the Brazilian state, and the town of ABC, 22 km away, is the new scheme to alleviate the city’s congested highways. Proposals for a 25-year DBFOM contract, priced at Reais 4.7 billion (US$2.1 billion), must be submitted by July 3 to Companhia do Metropolitano do Sâo Paulo (CMSP), the city-owned metro operator. Spain’s Acciona has lined up to bid, according to local reports.
