Sâo Paulo State Freezes Tolls

Brazil’s state of Sâo Paulo on June 26 formally halted on a 6% contractual increase in highway tolls that was set to go into effect on July 1. The move will deny the operators of some of Brazil’s largest toll road systems the revenues to service bank loans, finance road improvements, and set money aside for investor dividends. Some 19 road systems were hit, including government-run tollroads.
