Savings On St. Lawrence Bridge

A federal government report outlining terms of the  DBFM contract for the new Bridge for the St. Lawrence in Montreal said the P3 will save Cdn $1.75 billion (in current dollars), compared with a design-bid-build procurement. About Cdn $800 million will come from savings on construction, O&M and rehabilitation costs, and Cdn $1 billion from risk transfer. The report identified a “fragile” combined sewer main close to the project site as one big risk, and a former waste-disposal site as another.
