Spain Backs Off Bank Bailout

As the operators of M-12, a 9-km toll road serving Madrid’s Barajas airport, appeared in court to ask for insolvency protection, Spain’s Budget ministry was backing off its plan to bail out the thirty banks that hold Euro 3.5 billion (US$4.8 billion) of defaulted debt on ten Spanish tollroads.
