Spain Nationalizes 10 Toll Concessions Worth $7 Billion

Spain’s development ministry has abandoned efforts to rescue 10 financially stricken toll highways and will, instead, nationalize the PPP concessions under a scheme backed by the projects’ creditor banks. The government aims to guarantee bank loans outstanding on the troubled toll roads, which together involve a total investment of around Euro 5.6 billion (US$7.2 billion).
