Tolling Free Roads Just Got Harder

The difficult job of selling the public on tolling existing free roads got a lot harder in Seattle last month when design mistakes made by state DOT engineers were discovered on the new SR 520 floating bridge, casting doubt on WashDOT’s ability to manage the $2.4-billion project. Corrections are estimated to cost $100 million and could cause a delay in completing the project past 2015.
