Plenary Group USA’s toll concession on U.S. 36 between Boulder and Denver includes the addition of an express lane in each direction for use by tolled vehicles, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) riders, and High Occupancy Vehicles. Improvements to the existing BRT system include new electronic display signage at stations and bus priority improvements at ramps. Revenue service began a year ago. Toll rates are based on time-of-day pricing now. As congestion grows tolling will become “fully dynamic” with pricing based on real-time expected time savings.
