UK Mersey Bridge Bids Due April 10

Bidders for the estimated £600-million (US$920-million) Mersey Gateway toll bridge between Widnes and Runcorn near Liverpool, U.K., have been set an April 10 deadline to submit their offers. Halton Borough Council, the procuring authority, hopes to select a preferred bidder this June.

The council has also approved the late addition of South Korea’s Samsung C&T Corporation to the construction team of the Merseylink consortium. Equity members of the consortium remain unchanged as Macquarie Capital, Bilfinger Project Investments Europe, Vialia Sociedad Gestora de Concesiones de Infraestructuras and FCC Construcción.
