Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe announced a federal grant in early July, completing the funding plan for his $1.4- billion Atlantic Gateway Project (AGP). Designed to ease traffic gridlock within the I-95 corridor, the AGP includes funding to build 17 new miles of express lanes, new bridges, expanded commuter parking and bus service, and acquisition and expansion of unused rail tracks. Funding for the project is assumed to come from three main sources, $710 million in state financing, $565 million in private investments, and $165 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
