The city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is assessing responses to its RFQ for a Cdn $590-million (estimated capitalized cost) bus rapid transitway route to be delivered under what the city calls a DBF(O)M. The “operations” are limited to maintenance work on the 7.6-km bus-only greenfield route; the actual bus service will remain with the city since the project extends an existing BRT route.
Winnipeg issued the RFQ in September 2014. It is looking to shortlist three proponents very soon, pick a winner by early 2016 and start service in 2019, when a 30-year maintenance contract will begin.
